Sarah Zetler
Sarah Zetler is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience helping
adults manage emotional difficulties. She has worked across a wide range of settings,
including inpatient and outpatient hospitals, community organizations, and private practice.
Sarah has a keen interest in the mind-body connection, which she developed through her
roles in the NHS, where she established specialist services in collaboration with
stakeholders, commissioners and clinicians.
In her most recent NHS role, Sarah led a specialist mental health service for people
struggling with both mental health and physical health difficulties. She has extensive
experience working in multidisciplinary teams and supervising clinicians across various
health related specialties. Sarah brings a wealth of expertise in addressing issues related to
sex and sexuality, including compulsive sexual behaviours. In the private sector, she has
worked within residential substance misuse services, providing input into the complex
mental health needs of clients and supervising therapists and drugs workers.
As an active researcher, Sarah publishes in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to
the development of UK national guidelines. She currently serves on the Editorial Board of
the Journal of Contemporary ISTDP. Sarah is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological
Society, a member of the Division of Clinical Psychology, and a registered Practitioner
Psychologist with the UK Health and Care Professions Council. Additionally, she is a
registered Psychotherapist accredited by the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy
Association (IEDTA).
Sarah is skilled in providing both long-term therapy and brief interventions where the focus
may be on stabilisation or returning to a high level of functioning following a difficult life
event. Her integrative approach combines psychotherapy and clinical psychology, aiming to
deliver comprehensive evidence-based care.
As a Clinical Psychologist, Sarah is fluent in CBT, Interpersonal Therapy and mindfulness-
based interventions, such as Compassion Focused Therapy. As a Psychotherapist, Sarah is
well versed in contemporary evidence-based psychoanalytic models, such as Intensive Short
Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) and Mentalisation Based Therapy. Additionally, Sarah
is trained in EMDR and has a special interest in integrating models to create tailored
interventions that aim to address the traumatic components of experiences that lead to
distress and emotional dysregulation.
As a therapist, Sarah is active, curious, and compassionate, offering a resonant space to
explore how history shapes the patterns that people seek to change. She warmly welcomes
LGBTQ and neurodiverse clients.
